Idaho State Dance Competition 2016

On March 11th and 12th we had our dance competition in Pocatello. On Friday the 11th Laiklie danced and Oakley's little teams she teaches danced.  Both did soooo good! Oakley's 2nd little team even got a trophy for the choreography.  Yay!! That is such a neat thing for the judges to recognize Oakley's talent of choreographing dances.  

 Oakley and Brooklyn also got an Overall Trophy for the Novice age division.  Yay! Proud of our little teachers!

 Laiklie got a first on her short duet with her partner Trixie.  She loved dancing with Trixie this year. She also has LOVED dancing with her cousin Sage.  I've said it a million times, Cousins make everything better! 

Oakley did all of her dancing on Saturday, and both Oakley and Laiklie did great on their team dances and all their individual events.  I LOVE watching my girls dance!!! There is seriously nothing better!!

Paint, Paint and MORE Paint

On March 10th we FINALLY FINISHED PAINTING!!!! Yay!!! 

We saved the garage for last and it was a NIGHTMARE.  The ceilings are SO HIGH and we sprayed it, but had to back roll it and most of the day it was just Ryan and I, so he would spray and I would back roll and I was COVERED in paint by the end of the day.  The dumb paint sprayer kept getting jammed and not working and we were also completely out of patience by the end of the day as well.  Sooooo glad to pack up and put away the paint supplies!!!

Braces

Dallin got his braces on March 8, 2016.  He WHINED AND WHINED AND WHINED for about 4 days straight about how bad his teeth hurt.  I seriously thought I was going to have to take him back in and have them take the dumb things off!!! He finally got over it just in time to go get them tightened! :)

Brothers!

These boys crack me up. I caught Dallin trying to teach Rhett how to comb his hair the other day.  It makes me laugh that they are figuring this stuff out. :) Love them!!

Painting, Cabinets and Countertops!!!

We started painting our new house February 16th.  It took a couple weeks and EVERYONE - including Chase - helped!

 It was sooooo nice to have the kids help.  It is a big house and a lot to paint and a lot of hands makes quick work.  It looks so good!!

 We got the cabinets just after painting.  I am IN LOVE with how they turned out!

And the countertops ended up being a bigger job than expected, which took longer than expected.  We had one section bubble up so they had to start over on the whole countertop by the window.  It looks great now that they are finished and I can't wait to get started on the flooring! EEEKK!!

Boise Dance Competition

On February 12, we took a couple of the girls that clog in Oakley's Pro group to Boise for a dance competition.  We have never been to the Boise Competition, so we weren't sure what to expect.  It ended up being a good competition to start the year and get the girls on the stage in front of the judges.  Oakley did really well.  She was the only one of the 4 we took that got 5 first places on all her solos!!! So proud of her.  Those pro solos are HARD!! Her and Brooklyn also got 3rd place overall on their acapella duet.  The way they judge in pro is SO MUCH DIFFERENT than the way they judge in all the other categories so it is something we are trying to get use to.  These girls are working hard and have several more dance competitions coming up.

Asthma Attack

Every once in a while.....about once or twice a year this cute boy, Dallin, scares his momma to death by springing an Asthma Attack on me! On February 4th, just after noon a got this text:

We always have breathe oil or his inhaler in his backpack and had just taken it out a few days before for a scout outing and it never got put back in.  I live about 10 minutes from the school.  A lot can happen with an asthma attack in 10 minutes.  SCARY!! I called the school and got the office and told the lady that my son was having an asthma attack and I was on my way in and I needed him out of class and waiting for me in the office.  She says, "Just a minute please." Put me on HOLD and transfers me to a DIFFERENT LADY!!! Are you KIDDING ME?! She obviously doesn't understand the seriousness of an asthma attack.  Anyway.....the other lady was able to get him to the office for when I did get there.  It was a bad enough attack that I ended up bringing him home for a breathing treatment.

Glad we have learned what to do when he does scare me like this and glad he was okay once again!
