View from the Top

Laiklie, Danica and I stopped at Ryan's grain bin sight on the way home from grandma's the other day. We got the chance to climb up the stairs on the grain bin and see the incredible view from the top. The wind was blowing just hard enough to make the whole thing sketchy, but you seriously could see forever up there! Look how little my car looks! It is crazy high!

Life on the Farm

Burrs in your hair is the reality of life on a farm that nobody tells you about! :( And....of course I was home alone when it happened so I had to try and dig these out of the back of my hair by myself. Ugh! I may have a bald spot back there now. Hopefully I learned to be more careful when mowing around the grain bins and know to watch closer for these now. So painful!

Seminary Graduation

On Sunday, June 6, 2021, Dallin graduated from seminary. I wasn't sure if this was going to happen or not. Dallin had a really rough final trimester of seminary with a teacher he didn't see eye-to-eye with and it didn't help that most of his friends had quit attending all together. I am so proud of Dallin for sticking it out and pushing through. One story I want to remember -
Rhett came home from seminary one day (they were in the same class during the last trimester of the year) and he told me that Dallin had walked out of seminary class today. I asked about it and he told me the seminary teacher was chewing a kid out for having a drink without a lid on it. I guess the teacher told the kid, "You are either stupid or being disrespectful and I don't think you're being disrespectful!" Dallin immediately stood up and started walking out. When the teacher said, "Dallin, Where are you going?!?!" Dallin responded with, "I came here to feel the spirit and I'm not going to feel it after that!" and continued to walk out. I guess the seminary teacher followed him out in tears apologizing and the kid also followed him out. The teacher stopped the other kid to apologize and Dallin headed back into class. I'm SO PROUD of Dallin for standing up when he knew something wasn't right! He really is an incredible kid! He still has so much learning and growing to do, but I think he's on the right track!

Triple Crown Tournament

Laiklie and I spent this past weekend in Salt Lake at the Triple Crown Volleyball Tournament. What an incredible opportunity. We played at the Salt Palace where the room was lined with almost 30 courts. There were teams from all over the country. We played several from California, and Utah, one from Washington, Oregon and Arizona. Our girls didn't win a single game, but for 3 days straight they played their guts out against these incredible teams. We were kind of a mish-mash team this time since we were short players. They brought in 3 girls from other schools/teams and moved our girls to all new positions. Laiklie played middle instead of right side hitter. It was a challenge, but our girls worked hard and learned alot from the opportunity of being there. We had a great weekend with her teammates and friends and she slept all the way home. :)

Dallin's Graduation

On June 2, 2021 Dallin graduated from the Technical Careers High School. We are SO PROUD of Dallin! What an incredible accomplishment!
On graduation day we were sitting up in the balcony part of the gym and it took me a minute to find Dallin. When I spotted him I turned to Ryan and said, "Is that your kid wearing sunglasses?!?! Text him and tell him to take those off!!" Ryan just answered with a nope! I decided if he was going to roll with it, so would I. What a funny kid! Shades, a mullet and a lifted pick-up.....life doesn't get much better than that! ;) Dallin is one of a kind and always has been. He absolutely hated school until his Freshman year when we found the Tech High and he has loved it ever since. He came home filthy dirty and happy every day! He is going to miss it. Congratulations buddy! We love you and are so proud of you!

Dallin Graduation Announcement

To say that Dallin did not want graduation announcements is an understatement! I finally decided to just design them on my own. I found a template on my phone and filled it in with pictures and took a screenshot to send to Dallin. The conversation went like this:
Me: Is this ok?
Dallin: No
Me: What don't you like then? We ARE DOING ANNOUNCEMENTS so tell me what you like and don't like on it.
Dallin: I don't like announcements
(I seriously just roll my eyes at this kid!)
Me: Well I do! So I guess I'll do what I want! :)
And I did!

The funniest thing was when my sis-in-law handed me my nephew JD's announcement and we realized they were the exact same design. Lol! Too funny that out of all the designs available we would both pick this one! :)

Memorial Day 2021

Memorial Day is one of my very favorite holidays and this year was even better because we were able to have the annual Jacobson Family Picnic that had to be cancelled last year due to covid. Ryan and I took the kids for a drive Sunday afternoon out to the Wilford and Ucon Cemeteries and then Monday we went as a family to my Aunt Lanae's house for the picnic. She is always amazing and has such a fun day planned for us! This year we did the normal relays, family history games and of course ended the day with the high jump. The high jump has been around since I was a little girl and is a must at the party! Rhett of course had to back flip over the bar as well as doing his normal jumping. :) Such a beautiful day together. The Quinn Jacobson family was very well represented at the picnic. I'm so proud to be a Jacobson.

Bestie's Bridal Shower

Oakley's best friend Lauren is getting married! Oakley gets to be one of her bridesmaids. She had such a fun bridal shower. It was good to be there with her that day. Oakley and Lauren have been bestfriends since elementary school. They were even college roommates for the past 2 years. They have gotten each other through the ups and downs of life and we are so grateful for her. Congratulations Lauren! We are so excited for you!

Babysitters

One of our renters, Crystal Virgin, is a math teacher and right before Rhett's big Algebra 2 final she came over for a couple hours one day to help with his study guide. While she was here Laiklie and I got to be baby Amelia's babysitter. Laiklie couldn't get enough of this sweet little itty bitty baby girl.

Mom & Dad Pics

Just a few pictures I've taken spending time with mom and dad. The first one is proof that I still, after all these years, wear them out! :)
The second one is dad reading an article out of the Ensign to mom about the after life. We talk about death, the afterlife and funeral plans alot lately. Kind of hard subjects to keep dry eyes with.
The 3rd picture is proof that cancer doesn't win everyday! Mom finally felt good enough to go sit in her new mothers day chairs outside in the sunshine for just a little while. Yay! Such a great afternoon!
The last picture is the day I helped dad at the cemetery decorating graves alone without mom. He had a few errands to run, so Jenny stayed home with mom and I was his driver. It was a special time together. He wanted to show me where his and moms plots were and I watched as he added up the years of how long each of his parents/grandparents were alone after their spouse passed away. Such a tender morning together. This cancer stuff is no joke and it is so hard to watch my parents have to fight this fight. I'm so lucky to be able to spend so much time with them through all of this.

First Day at a New Job

May 22nd was Laiklie first day as a dishwasher at the Rusty Lantern Diner. She was so nervous to walk in by herself, but she totally did it. I picked her up 4 1/2 hours later, she was soaking wet but had $45 in her pocket and as happy as could be!

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Dallin got his wisdom teeth out on May 21st. He only had the 2 top ones which made it a fairly easy removal. I didn't get many pictures because I was busy trying to record how hilarious he was. He talked to me all about how he saw sand and the sanddunes during the surgery. Lol! He was super funny that morning just afterward. A couple funny things I want to remember are - while on the way home from surgery I got a call from Oakley who was in tears over her blood sugar. It wasn't normal and she wasn't doing well and needed us to get to Rexburg ASAP. I told her over speaker phone we would come straight there and that we were on our way. Just after I hung up the phone with her Dallin picked up his phone to call someone. I asked who he was calling and he said Oakley. I asked what he needed to tell her and he said he needed to tell her we were on our way. I told him that I had just told her that and he said we needed to tell her we were on our way RIGHT NOW! Hahaha! She kind of giggled when she answered and he made sure she knew we were coming RIGHT NOW even though I had just told her that.
One other funny.....that afternoon Rhett showed up at home an hour earlier then he normally does and I asked what he was doing home early. He told me, "you said I could ditch 4th hour." I told him that no I totally didn't tell him that! He said, "Yes you did in that text!" I immediately knew that Dallin must have text him. Apparently while I was in Jamba Juice getting Dallin a jamba Rhett text my phone and asked if he could ditch 4th hour. I had left my phone in the car so Dallin totally text him back, "Sure buddy, Go for it! Love u!" with the kissy emoji even.Grrrr! Dallin! Rhett assumed it was me since it came from my phone. We have laughed and laughed at the fact that Dallin gave Rhett permission to ditch school while he was doped up! So funny!
Luckily Dallin healed great and hasn't had any issues with his teeth.
