Christmas at Grandma’s House

Just a few pictures of all of the cousins and Christmas at grandmas house.

Christmas 2021

On Christmas morning we waited until almost 11 for Oakley and Logan to come over and open presents with us. This year each of the kids wanted something big/expensive so they didn’t get the same number of gifts as they usually do. Oakley and Logan got apple watches, dallin got a nightstand and light bar, Rhett got a camera and Laiklie got a laptop. It was a great Christmas. After opening presents we went down to grandma‘s for lunch and a few more gifts and then back for a turkey dinner at our house. It was a great day to celebrate the birth of the Savior!

This last picture is by far my favorite picture of the day. Laiklie had Oakley in a headlock, so Dallin sucked both of them in where neither of them could move. They were both laughing so hard they really couldn’t do anything about it. So funny! I love that my kids love each other.

Christmas Eve ‘21

Even with big kids, there is still something so special about Christmas Eve and everything being ready for Christmas.
This year we went out and had dinner with grandpa Jacobson and watched the Christ child video that the church put out. It was so good to be with him that night. Christmas is hard without grandma. I was glad we were able to still spend Christmas Eve in her home like we have the past few years.

Gingerbread Houses

I bought some gingerbread house kits for the kids to do one afternoon. Dallin‘s came completely broken before he even opened the box, so he was ticked. Half of their icing was so runny that nothing would stick. We have decided that gingerbread house kits are garbage. Next year maybe we will be brave enough to try making our own gingerbread. They still had a good time making a mess though!

Christmas Tradition

I went downstairs on Christmas Eve morning to wake up Rhett and couldn’t find him… Or his bed…
Why am I not surprised to find his bed moved into Dallin‘s room?!?! The boys have been moving his bed into Dallin’s room every year for the past five years in preparation for Christmas. I love that they are 17 and 19 years old and still want to be together on Christmas Eve night!

Baby Boy Andrus

With Christmas came the official announcement of baby boy Andrus!! We can’t wait for this little baby to come. We were so excited to surprise Linn with her now being promoted to great grandma and we were even more excited to surprise Grandma and Grandpa Romrell with them being great-great grandparents! It is a little crazy to think that Ryan and I will be a grandpa and grandma! We couldn’t be more excited!

Grandma Christmas Party

Linn did her annual Grandma Christmas party again this year. She keeps saying this is the last one, with Dallin leaving on his mission and Oakley moving she thinks she will be done now. We will see what next year brings though.;) it is always so fun for the kids to spend a couple hours with their cousins! I have been so grateful over the years that she has done a grandma Christmas party.

O & Lo are Moving!

Now that Oakley has graduated from college her and Logan are moving to Utah for him to continue his schooling. Laiklie and I ran up and helped them get moved out of their apartment. We are excited for them and their next adventure, but so sad they are moving.

Graduation Day & Party

Oakley graduated on Wednesday. Logan, his parents, Ryan, my dad and I were all able to attend. It was so neat to watch her walk across the stage! On Sunday we celebrated with family at our house. She is so relieved to be done with her schooling! We are so proud of her!

College Graduate

We have a college graduate!! Oakley graduated from BYU-Idaho on December 15, 2021. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in History. We couldn’t be more proud!! She has worked so hard to earn this. Her last two semester she’s done 19 credits on top of being in the elementary school and working a part time job plus doing make-up on the weekends. She is incredible! She makes us very proud.

Christmas Dance Recital

Laiklie had her Christmas dance recital the week before Christmas. It was so fun this year because Oakley took my spot backstage helping the teams and I was able to sit with my dad, Jenny, Seth and Ethan that came to support her. I totally forgot to take pictures though. So these are a few screenshots of the video. I absolutely love watching my girls dance!

Cheer Comps

Rhett’s had 2 cheer competitions so far this fall. They bumped everything up by a month so we had two in December when we usually don’t start until January. The first one was in Blackfoot and we got first place in everything and were the overall winners for the day! We were so excited, especially because they were going into the competition feeling very unprepared. They completed against seven other schools. They come out on top and it was awesome!
The second competition was in Boise. We came home feeling very frustrated. They decided to change that competition this year and were under the mindset that “everybody is a winner.” So every school got an award for every routine. It was hard to know we how we actually stacked up against the other schools. Super frustrating!
Between the two competitions the other boy, Max, broke his ankle. So Rhett is the only boy left for the season. He has been a trooper to stick it out! This year he got to be part of the stunt team. That’s what these pictures are from. So fun! Also, at the first competition they had a tumble off. He along with about seven other guys threw their best tumbling pass. Rhett got third out of all seven. So proud of him for stepping out of his comfort zone! The craziest thing about those other seven boys is they were all at least a foot shorter than Rhett. They looked like they should be tumblers… Rhett always amazes people with how well he can fly through the air standing 6’4. We love watching him cheer and look forward to the next few competitions at the beginning of the new year.

Ava’s Accident

On December 7th Laiklie‘s sweet friend Ava was in an accident. She wasn’t even a half mile from her home when she hit slick roads and then dry pavement and it flipped her jeep three times and threw her from her vehicle. She was rushed to the hospital where she had surgery immediately to figure out what her internal bleeding was from. They ended up removing her spleen. The second day she had surgery to put rods along her spine for her broken back and on day three she had surgery to fix her jaw that had been broken. They wired it shut. She spent just over a week in the hospital. We were sick about it! We were so worried we would lose her. It was such a miracle that she lived through all of the trauma that her little body went through. We are so grateful to still have her with us. Her and Laiklie have been  lifetime buddies and there’s nothing like a lifetime friend. She is now a miracle and her accident has reminded us just how fragile life is and how quickly things can change.

This last picture was sent to me by Ava‘s mom. I’m not sure whoa took the picture, but she loved that Laiklie was being the garter of Ava‘s sign at the basketball game. Such sweet friends.
