Andrus Trip to AZ

Oakley and Logan got to go with Logan‘s family for a Christmas trip to Arizona. They made a quick stop over to see great grandpa Max. So jealous of the sunshine & shorts!

It Should be a Crime…

And of course we had to try this out at the airport too…HAHAHA!

Colton’s Homecoming

Colton returned home from his mission to Accra Ghana on December 16. It was so fun to be at the airport as family to welcome him home! I’m always amazed at how a mission changes them from a boy to a man. Colton is no different. What an incredible young man! So glad he’s home!

Christmas Recital

Laiklie had her Christmas dance recital on December 12. Their first dance was their Star Wars dance with their Christmas pajamas underneath. Lol! Laiklie is the one in the brown cape with the green sword. Their next dance was a traditional line dance. We could see that Laiklie was pale and shaking before she ever went on the stage. She insisted on dancing though. Every time they would pause for a brief second I could see her whole body wave like she was going down. She made it through the entire dance, and as it ended her sweet Friend Ellie grabbed her as she passed out. I was backstage as usual, so I was right there to help Ellie get her off the stage. She sat backstage and passed out several times before insisting on going on for the Christmas solo and bows. It’s hard to see in the last picture, but Ellie and Tanner are both holding her up after bowing. Tanner carried her to the car that night after we cleaned up. She is so blessed to be surrounded by such incredible people that love her and just want what’s best for her. I’m so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who helped her push through and be able to dance all three dances, even when her body was fighting her.

Cheer Comp Season

Rhett’s cheer team has officially started competition season. They had one in December and the rest will be in January. They came home with three 1st and one 2nd (Pom which Rhett isn’t in) from their first competition. I would say overall that’s a win! Rhett is so fun to watch. He is so incredibly talented! After a very rough month of cheer issues and drama with some of the girls it was nice to have a day that reminds him why he does cheer!

Christmas Baby

Oakley sent us these cutest Christmas pictures of Jax! This little boy has always been fascinated by lights. Love it & love him!

Christmas Tree 2022

Ryan decided this year that we needed a new 12 foot tree. So he ordered a pencil tree off of Amazon. The boys took the ladder out before we got it looking fabulous, but it’s totally fine! It was fun to use some of the old ornaments that the kids have made over the years. My ornaments from when I was young were mixed in with them. So fun to see them too.
One funny story…. Rhett tried to put his hand print from when he was little at the top of the tree again as the “Star.” he had to leave though before the ladder was taken out, so Dallin switched his out for Rhett’s. It took Rhett several days to notice and by then the ladder was long gone so he couldn’t do anything about it. Lol! Such funny boys!

Thanksgiving Help

For Thanksgiving we ended up hosting the Hawkins family in our home. Stan, Linn and Dale came along with Katie‘s family and Chase’s family. The only pictures I took of the whole day was of Rhett helping me peel potatoes. He told me I needed to “document it” because it was going to be his new job every Thanksgiving. He loved peeling the potatoes. So funny!

Tonsil Surgery

On November 18, Laiklie got her tonsils out. We decided to do it over Thanksgiving so that it was between school ball and club ball. It also allowed her to have a week of heal time without missing school. She did fabulous! The doctor said as he went to remove them tonsil stones went everywhere. He said it was absolutely disgusting, and that they definitely needed to come out. These were the only two pictures I took because the rest were hilarious videos as she was waking up. She kept asking the cute nurse if she was crying. (Which she wasn’t) She also thought the blood pressure cuff was somebody arm wrestling her. Hahaha! Other than a few really sore days and losing weight because she couldn’t eat, she did fabulous healing.

Our Little Shopper

Our little babe got big enough (13 whole pounds lol) to sit in the shopping cart!

Here We Go Again

Laiklie‘s health issues, her legs going weak, and her passing out, has slowed down to where it only happens a couple times each month instead of a couple times each week. Still, each time it happens it is scary to watch. It’s constantly changing too. We never know what to expect. In November it started happening in school with her just sitting at her desk. It happened often enough we had to tell the teachers so that they knew to send for the wheelchair and take her to the office. I was so incredibly grateful that Rhett was at the high school and usually able to go help her get from her class, to the wheelchair, to the office. I seriously don’t know what I would do without him!
There was one day I called the school to let them know she was passing out and by a tender mercy of the Lord one of her volleyball team mates happened to be the student that answered the phone. She knew just what to do having watched it during volleyball. She took the wheelchair and got her out of class. As I pulled up to the school, she’s wheeled her out to my car. Every once in a while, she would stop and very gently pick up Laiklie’s head as she passed out and then continue to push her to the car. Another day it happened in the weight room after school. There was a great big man, a soccer coach I believe, that swooped her up in his arms and carried her out to the car for me. One of the blessings that has come from all of this is the incredible people she is surrounded by. We have been blessed with the best! Complete strangers that are willing to help us get through these scary episodes. It makes me cry everytime I think about the goodness in those around us and their concern for our girl.

Dallin Turns 20!

How is it even possible for me to have two kids in their 20’s?!?! Dallin turned 20 on November 7, 2022. When Dallin is in a good mood, there’s nobody I would rather be with! But…When he’s in a bad mood, or has lost his patience, watch out! He’s definitely a good mix of Jacobson and Hawkins. :) I sure love this kid. He started an online class at BYU-I in September that runs through December. He has worked hard. Going back to school has been a big adjustment, even just one class. I’m proud of him for putting in the effort! Happy Birthday D!

Sadie’s 2022

Laiklie & Luke
And
Rhett & Raegan
I got to host dinner for Laiklie‘s group at our house. It was so much fun hearing them giggle in the basement. Both Rhett and Laiklie had a great time on their dates! I am so grateful for these kids, and their incredible friends!

My Helper

Laiklie was my helper to get the house cleaned and dinner ready for her Sadies dance. You can tell from the picture (& Dallin’s shoes she’s wearing) that there was more goofing than helping. Lol! She’s so much fun!

Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin carving happened after the fact this year. They decided on November 1st that they wanted to carve pumpkins. When the kids decide they want to carve pumpkins, we carve pumpkins!
