Easter 2020

Easter was on April 12, 2020 this year. The kids all begged to just sleep in and not have to find their baskets. So I was world's nicest mom and let them have both. With having church in our homes right now we can be super flexible with our Sunday schedule. I woke them all up about 10 am and gave them their baskets to take to the living room. The pop guns were their favorite along with the candy for breakfast. We had a beautiful day together with a short lesson on the last week of the Saviors life and the resurrection along with the sacrament. Having church in our home has helped add to the spirit that I hope was already here. It was a great day together. 

The boys ended the day by going to stay the night at the cabin with their cousin JD. I'm so glad they are old enough to just go enjoy things like that on their own. The girls ended it by entertaining Ryan and I with their new skills they've learned while in coronavirus quarantine. Lol! Such dangerous skills! After about 17 tries they finally figured it out....for atleast a few seconds anyway. I'm still just glad no one broke a nose!  

Dying Easter Eggs

I pretty much had to force my teenagers to sit down and dye Easter eggs. Stinkers. I only made them dye 3 each and had to pretty much beg Dallin to get off his phone. He was definitely not in the mood. 17 year olds! (rolling my eyes!) Once they got started they had a good time though.

As we were dying them all the sudden Oakley's eyes got really big and her jaw dropped. She said, "Who wrote this?!?!" Someone had wrote something in white crayon on one of her eggs before we ever started and she didn't even have to show us what it said before we knew exactly who it was! RHETT!!! He is the one always pulling pranks on all of us! You'd think my teenagers were the naughtiest kids with sneak dying their hair late at night, flipping me the bird in pictures and writing swear words on Easter eggs, but really they are great kids just trying to get a laugh and this time it worked. Oakley laughed until she cried and we laughed and laughed with her. Rhett is such a stinker and definitely got a lecture (in the middle of the laughing) about how we don't write swear words! I'm just glad they found joy in dying the eggs together. :)

Working Heifers

Funny how things work. One day it's 60 degrees while we doctor bulls and the next it's 40 working heifers. It was cold and these 3 hung tight in the pick-up until they absolutely had to get out. Working heifers is a big job and everybody was needed! 

Laiklie and Rhett got seeders ready for Ryan, Dallin did shots, I did tags for Dale, Oakley wrote down numbers, JD and Nick kept the cows loaded in the chute and for the most part everything flowed pretty smoothly. We all make a pretty good team! Good thing, because there are several more days of working heifers as we get them ready and AI them. Glad we have good kids that are willing to help. 

Doctoring Bulls

With the kids doing online school right now because of coronavirus they have alot more time to help around the farm. The other day Rhett and I got to go help Ryan doctor the bulls. It was a GORGEOUS day and we totally didn't mind being out in the sunshine! 

A kid and his cat...

A year ago Rhett got this fuzzy black kitten that he named Cake. He was seriously the cutest little thing. He has grown like crazy over this past year and has turned into a cuddly mess. He lets Rhett lug him around and snuggle him. He has matted fur from the winter and some bald spots from matted chunks falling out and just looks ragged, but EVERYDAY, SEVERAL TIMES A DAY Rhett tells us "Cake is Cute!"  Cake is NOT cute! He is as gentle as they come, but definitely not cute! hahaha! Rhett sure thinks he is though.  This boy wakes up and first thing he does is go looking for that cat. Such a funny relationship. This kid and his cat! 

First S'mores 2020

On April 5th Laiklie convinced Dallin to start up the fire pit to make some s'mores. He agreed to only if he could cook a hotdog too. So we pulled out all the goods for both and the four of them had a great time together. And yes, Oakley is flipping me the bird in the last picture. I didn't notice it until my brother pointed it out to me AFTER I sent it to my family in a group text. Lol! See.....teenagers are exhausting! Good thing I love them so much! 

General Conference

Conference weekend is always my favorite time of year! It is so fun to snuggle in together and listen to the leaders of the church give us instruction and guidance. This year I was so looking forward to the peace that also comes with conference as the world seems to be in turmoil right now with the coronavirus pandemic. It was such a comfort to be able to enjoy this weekend with our family.

A Lot of Late Nights

With this quarantine it has been really hard getting the teenagers on an actual sleep schedule. So annoying! Every night I'm fighting them about going to bed. One night as I was fighting Rhett I realized his crazy hair was looking very familiar. HAHAHA! We had to even recreate the last picture. Too funny! This of course didn't help him get to bed any quicker unfortunately. ;)

 I do love teenagers. It is fun watching them discover their personalities and who they really are. He's a funny kid always comparing his siblings to cartoon characters so it was fun finally finding one that matched him. :) 

Getting Crafty

 During this quarantine we've had lots and lots and lots of hours to sit and look at all the projects we should do in the house. We've cleaned out some closets and dejunked some rooms (Oakley's was an all day project!) and even got the guest room put together the way I wanted. I saw on facebook one day though that my roommate from college decided to paint her interior doors black and I LOVED the way they looked. Since we had black paint on hand I decided to be brave and try a few of ours. I only did the garage door coming into the house....It ALWAYS has dirty fingerprints on it from the farmers coming in, and the pantry door. I love them both! It has helped with the fingerprints enough that I may end up doing atleast the other one in the garage that goes outside. Such easier clean up and I think they actually look more classy! 

The Babies are Moving

On March 26th and 27th Chase and Yvonne moved out of our old house and up to their new apartment in St. Anthony. We ended up with the babies both days while they had the moving crew there. These 3 littles will be missed! We loved having their family next door and I'm not sure what I'm going to do without Sage next door to buddy up with Laiklie. She is going to be missed most of all. Her and Laiklie have become extremely close over the past 7 years and are very best friends. The blessing in all of this is that she is not only a best friend, she is family so we won't be losing track of her anytime soon!

Oakley's Embroidery

Just before Oakley moved home from college she decided to make her best friend/roommate a shirt for her birthday. It was an embroidering of the two of them together from a picture they took. I love that all these years later the 4H lessons this girl took are paying off! :) I had to take some pictures of her working on it while we facetimed one afternoon. She is such a fun girl!  

Board Games

One of the board games I bought early on in the quarantine was Operation. The kids played it when they were little but haven't played it in years so it was fun to have it in the house again. Dallin is seriously the best at it. He has such a steady hand. I'm guessing it is from his mechanical work over the past few years. He won every time. So we enlisted the big guns...Ryan! Hahaha! He also has a steady hand so we wanted to see who would win it all. Ryan had to break out his new reading glasses. Hahaha! The kids laughed and laughed at him as he concentrated on each piece, but it all paid off with him being the ultimate winner! :)
