Waterslide 2016

We have made the waterslide with the Romrell's an annual thing and every year it gets bigger and better and every year the kids have a BLAST!!

This year Ali and Paige were staying at our house so they got to tag-along to the waterslide. So much fun!

This year it was actually a windy, chilly day, but from the pictures you would never know.  The kids didn't let that slow them down at all! Can't wait till next year!

My New House

I had some family wanting to see pictures of my new house so I thought since I had them I would post them here too so I can see the changes over the years.  We LOVE this house.  I love it more and more everyday! So grateful that WE built it with our own hands with our children helping along the way.  Such a great opportunity for our little family!

You can see we don't have many pictures hung yet, but it is a work in progress and like I said, we are LOVING IT!!

Elder Shumway

 On June 8th I got to go to the Logan, UT temple with my nephew Kaden who just received his mission call to Ventura, CA. I am so proud of Kaden.  It is crazy to watch them go from these tiny little people to these great big adults.  Every one of my nieces and nephews holds part of my heart and so things like this sure make me emotional.  I'm so grateful for his choice to serve the Lord!

Fish!!

Grandma called and ordered more fish for the lake! Yay!!

Which meant I got to hold this chubby little Ember.  What a precious little girl.  We are excited to have fish in the lake again!!

Floating the Canal

Having the canal right out our back door now makes it tricky to keep these two littles out of it on hot days.  So they finally talked me into tying some tubes to the tree on the bank and letting them climb in.  We have some VERY STRICT RULES about the canal and they know them and are really good about them, but we do love having it to cool down on a hot summer day!

Summertime!!

We seriously could not wait for summer to get here and one of the first days of summer we had we spent shooting guns at the ranch.  One of our favorite places in all the world!

Everybody hit atleast one ground squirrel except me. :/  I told the kids I didn't want to show anyone up and that I would go back up and kill those 3 I missed another day. hahaha! Sure love this little family of mine.  Looking forward to a great summer!

Awards Assembly

June 1st was our elementary's awards assembly.  Laikle was in the morning group and got her physical fitness award. Yay!

 Rhett was in the afternoon group and also got his physical fitness award.  Along with it he got a special Outstanding Academic Award.  His teacher told me a few days earlier when she saw me in the office that I needed to be at the awards assembly and that Rhett had NO IDEA he was getting this award.  The 5th and 6th grade classes are the only ones able to receive this award.  It is awarded in 3 categories....the first group was announced and they have to have really good grades and a certain GPA, the second group was announced and they not only have to have the grades, but they also test atleast two grade levels over their grade in math OR reading.  At this point when Rhett's name had not been called and most of his class had already gone up his head fell into his hands and I could tell he was SO DISAPPOINTED.  It seriously about made me cry for him. He knew if his name was not called at that point that it wouldn't be called.  They had all those children sit down and then announced the criteria for the highest category.  For the highest category you must have straight A's, a 4.0 GPA, and you must test at an 8th grade level (he is in 5th grade) in BOTH reading AND math.  When they announced Rhett's name as one of only 4 kids you couldn't wipe the smile off his face! I am SO PROUD OF HIM!! His teacher told me that Rhett didn't see himself at the same level as the other 3 boys receiving the award so she knew he would be surprised and he definitely was!! He has worked SO HARD this year and we are so, so proud of his accomplishments!!
