Laiklie's Awards Assembly

It is so hard to believe that our baby is finished with elementary school! It seems like just yesterday we were taking Oakley to kindergarten there and now all 4 kids are finished. Time just won't slow down! Laiklie had a great year in 6th grade. She finished as the States Game Queen AGAIN! Two years in a row! Yay! She also received the highest award for having a 4.0 all year and scoring atleast an 8th grade level on her math testing. Sooooo proud of her for working hard this year and doing so well. She is such a sweet girl and is surrounded by amazing friends. She is more then ready for Middle School!

Poor Dumb Diesel

This funny, funny dog. He loves his boy and thinks he belongs right by him ALL THE TIME! Too bad he is extremely wired ALL THE TIME too! Crazy Diesel!

Working, Hauling & Branding

Working, hauling and branding cows some years feels like it's never ending. This is one of those years, especially with the set-back from Ryan's truck getting hit and having to be fixed. We brought in a few recruits to help with the last 100 head we had to brand. Dallin, Rhett and Ciara missed school that day and Tara even came to help. Dale had some sweet ninja fly up over the fence, headlock and tackle a calf moves that we would have loved to have caught on camera. Hahaha! It was nice to have them worked and hauled for the summer! 

And of course on the last load on the way out of the ranch we had brake problems on one of the semi's that took us longer than we wanted to fix. There is always something I swear!

Oakley's New Job

Oakley got a job for the summer cleaning hotel rooms in Rexburg. The first few weeks they were shorthanded and working them to death. She was putting in 10-12 hour days, day after day after day. She was exhausted and hating life. She sent me this picture and told me she found this sweet little note and tip just when she was ready to quit. Some people are so thoughtful. It seriously made her day and saved her job.:) 

Memorial Day 2019

We had the usual meet at the cemetery and Swan Valley picnic (inside this year because of the rain). It is always such a great day to reflect on the lives of those loved ones we've lost and spend the day with loved ones we still have here. 💔

The Sanddunes

My sister Arnica's family had a foreign exchange student named Olaia. Before she headed home at the end of the school year they wanted family pictures so they came up for Rhett to take them. While they were here they wanted Olaia to see the sanddunes and of course we were up for that! We had to go between rain storms...you can see the black clouds....and it was chilly, but we still had a great time for about 30 mins. 

Rhett's Heart Scan

Rhett kind of gave us a scare this spring. He blacked out 3 times in 3 weeks....the first time hitting his chin on the bathroom sink and cutting it open. We decided we better go get him checked out after it kept happening. The doctor told us it could be one of 11 things. We narrowed it down to 3 

1. Anemic (low on iron)

2. Not eating/drinking enough (dehydration)

 3. This weird thing where the top of your heart swells and you don't get enough blood to your brain as quickly as you need it when you stand up.

The doctor did a blood draw......after 20 minutes of me "talking Rhett into it!" More like me holding his giant 6'2" body down and demanding he let them take his blood. Hahaha! I was also out $100 and a Fizbiz drink for making him do it. ;) To say he HATES needles is an understatement. This is the same kid that took 6 nurses to hold him down for a flu shot when he was about 5 years old. I'm just glad he finally gave in and let them do it. The blood test came back normal so they sent us for a heart scan. We figured it was a combo of dehydration and an EXTREMELY quick growth spurt but wanted to be safe where his uncle Travis had heart problems as a teenager.  Things must have been normal because we never heard from them. Do you see me rolling my eyes?!?! So annoying they can't just call and let you know! We pushed fluids like crazy and it hasn't happened again so I think we figured it out. So glad it was an easy fix!
