Pivot Extentions

Rhett, Laiklie and I were Ryan's pivot extention crew. Thank goodness for Rhett's height or we may have never got the job done!

18 Miler

I got  invited by me sis-in-law Yvonne and her work out buddies, Alicia and Ashley, to do an 18 mile hike this summer. We started on the Little Elk Creek trail and went up over the mountain, down the other slide (we had to glissade - sled on our butts - down because of all the snow...look close at the snow picture and you can see the little dot at the top...thats me! I screamed all the way down!) We then hiked through Waterfall Canyon. Both the waterfalls were gorgeous! We kept hiking to the Upper Palisades Lake which was HUGE! It took us FOREVER to hike from one end to the other, but the color of the water was incredible! We then hiked to the Lower Palisades Lake and then out from there. It was 18 crazy miles on several different types of terrain. We lost the trail several times because of the snow and only found our way thanks to GPS. It was an incredible hike and an extremely LONG day - we hiked from 6am-6:30pm - but I'd totally do it again! My big toe is still trying to decide if I'm going to lose my nail or not 3 weeks later. So Gross!

 1/2 Way up Little Elk Creek

The red tint to the snow is called Watermelon snow and it seriously smells like watermelons. When we would lift up our foot the snow under each step was super red. So crazy!

 Upper Palisades Lake

This is the route we took, we just did the hardest climb at the beginning and hiked the easier section at the end. So we hiked it backwards. 

Rigby Lake Fireworks

Rhett, Laiklie and I decided to run to the Rigby Lake fireworks this year. Rhett wanted to try to get some pictures. We parked at the sugar factory across the highway from them and had a great view. We got through the traffic and almost all the way home before we realized that I had dropped my phone (new phone!) by the car when we were getting in. We had to turn around and go back for it. Luckily it was right by the car and just off the road enough no one ran over it. We ended up getting home right around 11 and I had ward council at 7 am the next morning. It made for an exhausting night, but I was so glad we went because look at some of these gorgeous pictures he got! 😮

Cupping

I went and got a massage the other day and my shoulders and back were so tight that the lady asked if she could do the cupping technique on me. I'd never had it done, so I agreed that she could. OH MY HECK! Never again! It was soooo painful and left 6 gigantic hickey type bruises on my neck and back. They hurt bad enough I don't know if it helped with the inflammation and tightness it was suppose to help with. They also made going to church and the temple that week a little tricky trying to hide these huge hickeys. Hahahahaha! I'm sure everybody wondered what was going on at the Hawkins house! :) 

Kids!

You have no idea how often I find that my kids have stolen my phone and helped themselves to a few selfies. It was no surprise that I found these after Laiklie had drove me over on the 4-wheeler to move the sprinklers. Stinker girl! Her taking a picture of her mom out working cracks me up.

Menan Butte

Rhett and I decided one evening to run hike the Menan Butte. We didn't leave until just before 8pm and got a little turned around getting there, so we had to hike pretty hard (exhausting) to get up the hill and back down before dark. Neither of us had hiked the butte before and Rhett is the best hiking partner. He's got long legs and a long stride and likes to just get it done, the same as his mom. :) We saw several little lizards, did some slip slidding across the slick rocks, got to explore a few trails at the top and an absolutely gorgeous sunset on the way down. Rhett is a funny kid and had me laughing the whole hike. We had a great evening together. I'm so glad we decided to do a spontaneous last minute hike together. 

Fall Creek Falls

I try really hard during the summers to find cheap adventures and experiences for the kids and I to do.  When they were little it was easy to just find a new park to visit. Now that they are teenagers its a little trickier.  We have found some great places already this summer though. One evening we decided to run up to see the falls. They are seriously gorgeous. It is a little sketchy with a big drop off so the girls of course were teasing me that they were going to fall. Rhett was making me nervous too paying more attention to his camera then his footing. It was so fun to go together and we of course ended the night with square ice cream cones from the commissary in Swan Valley.
