Rigby Lake Fireworks

The weekend before the 4th of July Rigby always does there fireworks. With so many cities shutting down their firework shows we decided we wanted to go to this one. Ryan, Laiklie, Ethan and I got there just in time to find crappy parking and a crappy viewing area. Hahaha! We were able to see the fireworks if we put our chairs right in the middle of the road though. It turned out fine and we were grateful for something that felt normal to us after so many things had been canceled.

 

Chemo Day

On June 24th Arnica was able to come up for chemo day again. It is always much more fun getting mom and dad's groceries when I have a side-kick! We were able to mask up and go in and see where she gets her chemo and meet her nurses. It was a neat opportunity, especially since everything is so shut down due to COVID. We love being there and being able to support her through this crazy journey.

 

1st Crop Hay

I'm always amazed as to how fast the hay grows at the beginning of the summer. I had to give Ryan a ride over to help Dale with the strings on his baler and happened to sneak a few pictures of them all working. Dallin farmed this summer so that Ryan could build bins for his dad. We are so proud of how hard Dallin works and all the crap he has to put up with working long hard hours for his grumpy dad, uncle and grandpa. Dallin is a great kid and will go far in life just from the experiences and life lessons he's already learned in the few short years he's been here. 

 

Rhett Gets a Cast

A few days after Rhett broke his ankle we were able to get him into the specialist. He told us he thought the break was clean and would line up on its own and heal just fine without surgery. What a relief! He put Rhett in a cast and told him he was non-weight baring for 6 weeks. So we ran over and rented him a scooter from the medical supply store to help give him options since the crutches were killing his armpits. He was happy to have something to make getting around so much easier. We were also grateful for good news on it healing without surgery!

 

Ethan's Birthday

Ethan turned 16 this summer On June 21st while he was living with us. At our house its a tradition on the 16th birthday to get them 16 gifts. It was fun finding gifts to add to the ones his mom sent for his birthday. He was excited to be able to date and definitely made the best of dating this summer while he was in Idaho. He's a fun kid. Happy Birthday Ethan! 

 

Crazy Teenage Boys

It was a chilly day the end of June when I looked out to see Dallin and Ethan trying out the rope swing into the canal. They did it over and over again until they could hardly move from the cold. I kept telling them to wait for a hot day, but teenage boys don't listen real well. :)

 

Rhett Broke His Ankle

The girls decided this summer that they wanted to buy longboards. After work on June 18th just after getting them Rhett and Laiklie decided to run down to the elementary school to try them out. It was Rhett's first longboarding experience, and lets just say....it didn't end well.  He didn't crash, but he came off it HARD and put enough pressure on his heel that it acted like a hammer and pushed up into his ankle causing a break. He knew immediately it was bad so Laiklie backed the car up to where he was and he hobbled into it and drove with his left foot home. I decided it wasn't even worth messing with, so we went straight in for x-ray's. They found the break and sent us home in a boot on crutches until we could get into the specialist since it was on his growth plate. He was so sad. Cheer, hiking, work, everything he'd planned this summer changed in just an instant. He had to learn a lot of patience while he allowed it to heal.
