Senior Awards Night

We are just getting started with all of the end of year Senior activities. We had the senior awards night this week. While we were in the school, there was a major downpour and severe flash flooding. The thunder and lightning along with the rain on the school roof was intense! The halls of the school were even somewhat flooded by the time we came out. It was so crazy! Rhett was recognized for being on student council at the awards night. It’s so fun to get to do these last few senior things with him!

Helping Ryan

I got to run out and help Ryan work on the pivot the other night. He always gets mad at me when I get caught taking his picture. Lol! I sure love tagging along with him.

Spring Porch Update

One of the things I have loved most about this house is decorating my porch. I love to decorate it for the seasons and the holidays. It definitely need a refresher for spring. I even recovered the chairs. They were so sun faded. It turned out cute!

Hawkins Cousins

On Saturday, May 20, Chase and Yvonne dropped their three little girls off to our house first thing that morning. They headed over to Boise to watch their daughter Sage run at the state track meet. We had such a great day with Memory, Ember and Autumn. We took them to lunch and then to the park in Rigby while Laiklie‘s car tire got fixed. Rhett and Laiklie had stayed the night at the cabin the night before, and got a screw in the tire on the way home that morning. :(
After the park we brought them home to play in the water. Autumn had to miss a friends birthday party that day. For the birthday party they were going to a splash pad and having cake and ice cream. So we re-created the birthday party at our house. We did our own version of a splash pad with sprinklers, water balloons, our baby pool and squirt guns. We also did cupcakes and ice cream and got her a birthday crown at the dollar store.
That evening we took the girls on a four wheeler ride to pick asparagus. They loved helping find and pick it. Autumn even helped me get it ready for dinner.
At about 8 PM as they were climbing in my jetted bathtub Memory told me she thought she was going to throw up. Ember had the throw ups the day before they came to our house. Memory threw up about five times before Chase and Yvonne got there at 11:30 PM to pick them up. Autumn threw up just after they left too.
The day started out fabulous. Such a sad ending. They didn’t even get to stay the night like they had planned to. Luckily, none of us got the throw ups from our fun day together! We sure love spending time with cousins and have missed having these three Littles live right next-door.

POTS

I took Laiklie to the pediatric cardiologist on May 18, 2023. She officially diagnosed Laiklie with POTS syndrome. It is nice to finally have answers after 1.5 years of episodes and symptoms and watching her battle through. They started her on a blood pressure medication. It is supposed to increase her blood pressure which hopefully intern will allow her to have fewer POTS episodes. The day she started it I ended up at the school twice to check her blood pressure and heart rate. It had some weird side effects. She thought somebody was touching her constantly. Her scalp was tingling and it ran down her spine. It caused her anxiety to go through the roof feeling like she was being touched constantly. Luckily, her body adjusted to it within just a couple days. She has had one episode since starting the medication. It was while bowling at BYUI for mutual…the BYUI EMT’s came to poke and prod her during it. I think they were excited to have a patient. Lol! We are hoping for fewer episodes from here on out. We are grateful we have learned a few tricks to try to shorten the episodes when they do happen as well. It’s nice to FINALLY have some answers!!
Laiklie always jokes that the code room at the high school is her “office.” Hahaha! This is a picture in her “office” of her blood pressure that first day on the medication. It was actually working. Her blood pressure was up where it was normally supposed to be.

Dallin & Jax

Oakley FaceTimed me the other day and I recognized the outfit Jax was wearing. It took me a minute to dig out pictures, but I was able to find a picture of Dallin wearing the same one. It got passed down to Cousin’s after my boys wore it and my sweet sister-in-law handed it to Oakley when Jax was born. So fun to see both our boys wearing the same outfit.

The Mexican’s

My dad is getting remarried, so my sisters and I have been out helping sort through things at his home, preparing for her to move in. I took all of my mom’s pictures to my house to sort through them. Laiklie was helping me. She pulled up the first picture and asked me, “Mom, who are Grandpa’s Mexican friends?” (My dad’s the one holding the baby)
Then she finds picture #2 and says “Here’s the Mexican’s again!” so I explain to her that the “Mexican’s” are my dad‘s brothers, Blake, and Blair.  Hahaha!
Then she finds picture #3 and says, “So is this Blake, Blair, or is this a real Mexican?”  It’s actually my dad’s other brother Flint. Hahahaha! We laughed and laughed for days about her thinking my uncles are Mexicans. So funny!
