Annual Jacobson Reunion

On August 2nd, the same day we got home from girls camp, we hosted our annual Jacobson Family Reunion. Friday evening we all visited, played yard games and volleyball and had worlds biggest Jacobson DI! Saturday morning Jenny did a special rock devotional and passed around a jar of rocks. We each took one and when it was our turn we talked about the good in our lives...which, most of us talked about the hard and how it turned to good. Such a neat time together. Saturday afternoon we had rented a huge inflatable water slide. We played for hours and hours. The boys loved to be timed. Rhett won fastest time with being able to climb up and slide down in 4.88 seconds. So crazy!! It seriously was SO FUN! That evening we did some team unity/family bonding type games. We were divided into teams with other family members which forced us to get out of our comfort zones. It was so neat watching everyone work together. We also celebrated my 45th birthday that day with several rounds of them singing to me. :/ Lol! Sunday morning we had breakfast and attended our ward. After lunch everyone started heading home. It was just what we needed to refill our tanks till we can be together again next year.

Girls Camp 2024

Back at the beginning of the year, I got called to be the Stake Young Women Presidency secretary. The thing I looked forward to the most is girls camp! I was so excited to get to go again after 12 years of having not gone. I was also excited that this is Laiklie's last year of girls camp. So I was able to go with her for one year. I went with Oakley her first year and Laiklie her last year. Such a neat opportunity!
We had such a great camp this year. We started by taking about 40 YCL's up on Monday. We took them repelling and had a special night with our new patriarch. The next morning we did a morning hike to watch the sunrise and then worked on our YCL song for skit night. Tuesday night we had skits, Wednesday we hiked. Laiklie and I were able to hike table rock. I've wanted to take it for years. This summer has probably been the worst summer for being out of shape. I literally didn't know if I was going to make it. We were so sore from hiking up to repel on Monday and then doing the morning sunrise hike Tuesday. So hiking table rock Wednesday was an absolute killer! I was so proud of us! We had such a beautiful day together. That evening once everybody was finished hiking, we did a faith walk, which was a reenactment of Lehi's dream. It was absolutely incredible! So many tears as the young women felt the spirit. Laiklie and I had a tender moment together when she was frustrated that she hadn't felt the spirit. It was a great opportunity for learning and a special bonding moment. Thursday, after a morning devotional, each of the Ward's got to do whatever they would like. Our ward took them to float the river. Thursday night we were were able to sit in on the testimony meeting of each of our own individual wards. I was so glad I got to be there with Laiklie. Friday mornin we packed up early and headed home. I was hosting our Jacobson family reunion at our house that same day, so we didn't waste much time getting out of camp. Such an incredible week together! Some thing I will always treasure.
