Dallin

I pulled onto our pivot August 15th during harvest with a car full of food for the guys and handed all of them their lunch but Dallin. I looked around but couldn't see him anywhere. I sat in the car and called him.

 Me: "I have your lunch, where are you?"

Dallin: "Mom, I'm on top of the grain bin."

I could tell from the tone of his voice that he thought I should know. Looking out my window I see this little dot of a boy up on top of the grain bin.

Me: "Dallin, DO NOT answer your phone when you are on top of a grain bin!!!"

Dallin: "Well then don't call me when I'm on top of a grain bin."

Stinker boy scares me to death sometimes! What an incredible kid Dallin is. He is our very best help. He has learned so much over the years tagging along behind and watching his dad. We are both very proud of the young man he is! He digs in, works hard and hustles at everything he does. What a blessing he is to our family! 

Jefferson County Fair

Rhett entered some pictures in the fair again this summer. We didn't get any pictures with the ribbons, but he got a first on the one of Oakley, Paige and the Milky Way. They others were all 2nd's. I'm so proud of him! He is so talented and works really hard at his photography! It's nice to see his work recognized! 

Twin Falls Temple Trip

This summer our ward decided to take the youth to the Twin Falls temple. I was a little hesitant about sending them alone (knowing that they were planning to eat pizza and how uncomfortable that situation would be for Rhett) so I volunteered to help drive. I lucked out that they actually needed me! It was such a special day. On the way over my kids were complaining about going("we have a temple right by us! Why do we have to go all this way...") and Dallin said he WAS NOT BAPTIZING! *He gets so nervous when he has to read anything...especially unfamiliar names. I told him I wasn't going to make him. It was up to him. When we got there the temple worker asked the YM's president how many priests he had that were baptizing. He told them he had 6, which I knew that number included Dallin.  I didn't say a word. I was worried about how it was going to go down, but I just sat back and watched. The temple worker came into the room where all the youth were and asked where his 6 priests were that were baptizing. I watched Dallin's hand go up with the rest of them. I was VERY PROUD that he chose to fulfill his responsibility. The Twin Falls temple has the youth do all the extra work, mop, handout towels, etc so I got to just sit and watch them. When it came time for Dallin to baptize I prayed like crazy he would be able to pronounce the names. He stumbled just a few times, but almost every one of the names that he baptized for were easy to pronounce and read. What a tender mercy of the Lord! I am so grateful for the Lord's hand in the very details of our lives. It was a beautiful day with my 3 teenagers. I was so blessed to get to be there. 

The Jacobson Boys

My brother Travis and his wife came down from Montana for her sisters wedding in August. They asked us to keep their boys while they were in Wyoming at the wedding. We were SO EXCITED! We don't get to see these little boys very often. It was so fun to have them over night. The big boys can't get enough of Dallin when they come and so even though we were in the middle of harvest they jumped in and tagged along. It was fun to show them how the grain was cut, hauled and stored. The two littles were fascinated with the combine and climbed in with Uncle Ryan for a ride. They would have rode all day if I would have let them. :) Once Travis and Bekah got back from the wedding we decided to take the kids to the new park in Rigby. They of course loved it! You can tell by the look on Mac's face. lol! So much fun to be together for even just a couple of days! 

Tyce & Danica

We lucked out and got to have Tyce and Danica come for a couple days this summer. It was right at the beginning of August and hot as ever so the kids lived in the canal. For some reason they had lowered the water level so in most places they could all touch. They floated it over and over again on intertubes from our house down to Luella's field. I would drop them off with the 4-wheeler and then drive to the end and pick them back up....over and over again. Summertime is especially better with cousins! 

*If you look close you can see the boys put the lifejackets on upside down with their legs in the armholes. Such random kids! Seriously!

Happy 40th!

On August 3rd I turned 40! We were getting ready to go on our annual horseback riding trip with the Hawkins cousins when I saw a car pull in and I could hear someone outside my door, but they never knocked.  I decided to go investigate and found my sweet friend Hollie and her daughter decorating my door for my birthday. Each heart said something good about me or something I'm good at or a reason I'm loved. She even brought a cake! I am so blessed with such incredible people in my life! 

Rhett, Laiklie and I enjoyed the horse riding and Autumn even got to ride with me this year. We hurried back so that Ryan and I could go to dinner. It was a beautiful day and great friends made it better! 💓

Grand Targhee Hike

For girls camp this year Laiklie got to hike a hike that I heard about a few summers ago and have been dying to hike. We couldn't talk Laiklie into coming with us (after we hiked it we understood why!) but Rhett and I left fairly early on August 2nd and headed to Grand Targhee. You hike up the mountain and ride the ski lift down. There are INCREDIBLE views of the Tetons at several places during the hike. It was an insane incline for just over 3 miles, but totally worth it!
