Arizona

In February all the moms (+4 babies) got to take a quick trip to Arizona to make up for the one that we had to cancel in December because of flight delays.  It was fun to get away for a week.  Not gonna lie.....my favorite part was the SUNSHINE!! I cannot wait for summer and it was SO NICE to wear flip flop, shorts and t-shirts.  It was beautiful!

We did alot of shopping, visiting, eating, pedicures and even a quick trip into the temple for initiatory. It was nice to get away from reality for a few minutes and spend time with Ryan's family and especially his grandparents before coming back to the real world.  We definitely need to do this more often!  

Sweethearts 2017

Oakley took Dillon to Sweethearts 2017.  It was the same night at the drama club play so she had to get herself ready and I didn't get to see her before she left. :(  I was super sad about it, but I did have a mom text me this first picture.  You would never know that Oakley is wearing great big high heels under that dress because of how tall Dillon is. :)

 I did hurry and take this quick picture when she got home before she took the dress off.  Dillon's cute grandma made their flowers for them and Oakley's even lit up.  So cool! My mom made a new top for Oakley's dress because the top it came with was super immodest.  She did a great job and we loved the way it turned out!! Oakley looked gorgeous!

 They had a great group of friends to go with and Coleman's sweet mom Kara took some gorgeous pictures of everybody for us! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!!!

Beauty and the Beast

I had the great privilege of helping with the elementary drama club again this year.  It is seriously A TON of work! I don't think people have ANY IDEA how much work goes into something like this unless they have done it! It is also so rewarding watching the talent of the children grow and develop. I love watching their confidence grow and all their hard work pay off!

 This year we did Beauty and The Beast Jr.  Rhett tried out for the part of Lumiere and got it.  It had a ton of lines and even 2 solos that he had to memorize.  He put alot of time and effort into it and even got his cute little french accent down really well.

 Rhett LOVED that during the fight scene at the castle he got to burn a villagers butt. Hahaha! We loved the little wind-up of his arm. Hilarious!!!

 Laiklie was a villager and she also got to be the pepper in the Be Our Guest song that Rhett sang.  She got a few one-liners in the opening song she got to sing as well.  She is growing and learning too and will be ready for a larger part next year hopefully. 

As one of our field trips after the play was over we took all 76 kids to the new Beauty and the Beast movie.  What a blast!! It was so fun to hear so many of the same lines and songs our kids had just worked so hard on memorizing in the movie.  This was another successful year for the drama club and I am especially so proud of Rhett and Laiklie for the work they put into it.  Definitly a proud momma moment!

Geography Bee

On January 27th Rhett got to participate in the elementary geography bee.  He qualified by being one of the top finishers on a geography test given to all 4th-6th graders.  He was one of only 10 kids in our elementary who got to participate.  I had never been to a geography bee and didn't realize it was a super official thing.  They had Jay Hildabrant, the channel 8 news anchor, there to MC the bee.  They went down the line asking first geography questions about the USA. They also asked questions involving maps and then moved onto world geography.  The questions were INSANELY HARD!! I seriously had no idea on several of them!! Rhett was the first to answer two correctly and so he was the WINNER!!!

Such a super neat thing!! Sadie and Tim got 2nd and 3rd place.  Because Rhett was the winner he took an online geography test to see if he qualified for the state geography bee.  A few weeks later I got a phone call from Rhett at the school telling me HE QUALIFIED!! I guess Mrs. Baird (the other 6th grade teacher) got the email that morning letting her know and so she took her whole 6th grade class into Rhett's classroom and asked if they could interrupt for just a minute.  When Mr. Shiffler said they could they all yelled, "CONGRATULATIONS RHETT, YOU'RE GOING TO STATE!" Soooo exciting!!! So proud of this kid!

Diabetes Scare

The morning of Jan 27th I woke up at 3:30am to the kitchen light flipping on only to find Oakley in the kitchen with low blood.  This is the number I saw on the meter!! TWENTY NINE!!

SCARY LOW!!!

 I handed her a juice box and told her to guzzle it.  She then asked if I would make her a peanut butter sandwich.  While I was making her sandwich she got up to walk to the garbage and I kind of got mad at her and told her to sit back down! I didn't want her to pass out! When she finished her sandwich she asked if she could have a piece of licorice if she did insulin for it. I told her, "Oakley, Your blood is 29, we aren't doing insulin for ANYTHING!" She looked at me funny and said, "Mom, my blood is 62. I wondered why you were freaking out!" 

Same meter, same reading, just one of us was reading it upside down! 29 is WAY DIFFERENT than 62! Apparently my eyes don't work at 3:30am. Glad she was okay! Definitely a good scare!

Hunters Safety Graduate

Laikie is our last little Hunters Safety Graduate of the family! (Unless they eventually talk me into taking the class.) She did a great job!  Ryan was very impressed with her hunting/gun knowledge. Way to go pretty girl!!

Diesel Dog

Our little Diesel dog is getting so big, so fast! He is such a busy little thing! We finally got him out of the garage and into a kennel. Dallin has done a great job with training him to sit, stay and to not bark.  He loves to ride on the back of the 4-wheeler with Dallin and has even learned to jump in the back of the truck.  Fingers crossed he will be a good cow dog eventually too! He was just what this boy needed!
