Recently Laiklie took part in a screening for the TrialNet study for the development of Type 1 Diabetes and was tested for diabetes-related autoantibodies. The results of Laiklie's screening test was NEGATIVE.
We have been waiting for these results for 3+ weeks now and you have NO IDEA how relieved we are that they all 3 came back NEGATIVE again this year. The more families we meet with a diabetic child the more we find that have more than one diabetic child. It scares us to death thinking that one of our other 3 may at some point end up with Type 1 diabetes. We know that this TrialNet study isn't 100%, but it is so nice to know that all 3 kids tested negative for the autoantiboties that cause T1 diabetes. We are continually blessed!!

That's great! I bet you were on pins and needles waiting to hear!
I was talking about you last week with the girl who does my hair. She and her sister have diabetes; they are sisters to Janell Lerwill who you met, who has 2 boys with diabetes. It's so sad what they have to go through.
Great news! Our kids do the TrialNet study every year, too, because Aaron's brother has Type 1 and he was diagnosed really young like Oakley. So far they've all been negative. You are such a great mommy. Oakley is lucky to have you. :)

That is great news! We did that study too. All of us except for my youngest were tested. We tried 3 times but we could never get enough blood to complete the test. They scheduled him for a 4th test in November....but he was diagnosed with diabetes on the 16th of November before they could do the test.
Having 2 diabetics is kind of crazy but it is just our way of life. They have each other as support and that truly is the best thing!
Now the fear of having 3 out of my 3 kids being diabetic....that scares me! :)
