Hunting, Hunting and More Hunting!

Ryan and the kids started hunting the middle of August this year because Oakley and Dallin both had early antelope tags.  They have been hunting and hunting and hunting every day since!! When the general hunt opened Dallin happened to get this beautiful buck on opening day! He was SOOO EXCITED! This is his first year hunting and he hit it with one bullet right in the heart.  He took it straight up to the taxidermy to get a head mount done.

Rhett also got to hunt this year as a 10 year old because of the regulation changes.  He had one year to hunt without hunters safety with an adult.  He had to go a few times before he was able to get this pretty little buck, but he got one and we are so excited for him!! He is planning on getting a European mount with his.  He was happy to donate the meat to gram and gramp Jake who needed some in their freezer.
Oakley also had a tag but was set on either getting one bigger than Dallin's or not getting one at all.  Hahaha! Sibling rivalry at its finest! :) So she came home empty handed.
Ryan has a late hunt tag and is still hunting day after day.....driving me nuts! I feel like the single mom trying to keep all the balls in the air all at the same time.  I will be so glad when he either gets one or hunting season gets over! :) Ryan doesn't ask for a lot though and hunting is so much his thing that I try to grin and bear it because I love him! Just a few more days, Right?!!

Pumpkin Painting 2014

Every year Grandma Hawkins has the grandkids come help paint the pumpkin out on her lawn.  They love it.  Oakley had to miss this year because of volleyball.  She is old enough she didn't mind too much. ;)

One of the favorite parts of painting the pumpkin is climbing on the pumpkin.  Hahaha! These kids are getting too big!

This year we had an absolutely gorgeous day to paint.  Usually we are bundled up and freezing but this year we were wishing we were kayaking. :) What a fun family tradition for the kids to get to be a part of. Thanks grandma!

District Volleyball Championships

This school season Oakley made the freshman volleyball team.  The team went from 8 players to 6 before the end of the season.  Because of that we had some highs and lows....but they are incredible girls and were in it to win it this year!

The district championships were in Madison this year and there were 8 teams in our district.  We showed up with our little 6 player team to play against teams that had up to 12 players so they never had to play a tired player.  It was an ALL DAY tournament and after defeating team after team after team and playing their guts out our little team came home the DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!!
Coach Susan Piquet, Katie, Oakley, Paige, Kayla, Megan, Lauren, Kaitlyn (hurt ankle) and Kolt Piquet Assistant Coach
YAY!! So proud of these girls.  They worked hard, played hard and deserved this Championship Win!!

My Dad's Family

Today was my great Aunt Lottie's funeral that my dad was asked to speak at.  (Can I just say incredible?! My dad is an INCREDIBLE speaker! What a blessing to go listen to him speak!) It just so happened that all of his siblings were able to attend.  It was my Aunt Linda's idea to take some pictures with their parents and what a GREAT IDEA! In my eyes these are some of the most amazing people I know! What great examples they have been in my life.  They are strong, good, hard working people with testimonies of the gospel.  Each of them represents something different to me and I appreciate them more than they will ever know for living in a way that makes me want to be like them.
I joked to my mom while we were standing there that my two little boys about drive me NUTS some days.  I have NO IDEA how my grandma kept up with this giant crew of boys! She is incredible just for that alone! :)

Baptism Day

What a special day for this sweet little girl! What a blessing she is in our lives.  We are so proud of her for her decision to be baptized and become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
MY BAPTISM
Today I took a closer step to be with Heavenly Father
I humbly walked down 5 white steps and into clean, clear water
My loving daddy took my hand to help me stand up straight
Just as he has through all my life till now when I am 8.
My daddy showed me what to do - breathe deep, then hold your nose
And baptized me with priesthood power and smiled when I arose.
Now I'll take another step to be with Heavenly Father
My daddy, uncles, grandpas too will all around me gather.
They'll lay their hands upon my head, bless me and say "amen"
Then the Holy Ghost will be my guide if I but follow him.

We did Laiklie's baptism the morning of General Conference.  We did it early Saturday morning and headed back to our house for breakfast with the family! What a fun day! We had a house full in support of our girl! Grandma Jacobson bought her a baptism cake and handed her the knife to cut it.

Great cutting job baby girl! :) Love it! Love her and love our families for being there to support us on such a special occasion.

Laiklie Turns 8

I can't believe my baby girls is 8 years old! She is such a fun little girl and I am so grateful 8 years ago she was sent to our home!
This little cutie is her daddies girl through and through. She went to the store sure she needed a chocolate cake....then she saw this hunting beauty and the chocolate request flew right out the window. :) She NEEDED that hunting cake - white cake or not! She had planned out who got to eat the moose, elk, and big buck before she even got home.

It seems like we partied for 2 full weeks for this birthday.  We not only had her birthday....we also had a friends party Thursday after school where we went swimming at Heise.

Emily, Laiklie, Blair, Kaiya, Sage and Ava
These girls had a blast playing mermaids in the pool.  One funny thing I heard Laiklie say, "In the game (mermaid game) I am 16 years old so I know EVERYTHING!" Ha,ha,ha,ha! I remember being 16 and knowing EVERYTHING! :)
Laiklie had a great birthday this year and we are excited for her to get baptized!!
